Audience of One is a book that I wish I would have had available to me during my basketball career. This book offers some incredible insights from some very talented athletes that reminds us that the real reason behind why we play our sport is to use the platform to shine God's light. The first section "Anchor Your Faith" I think is a great section to kick off the book because it highlights the importance of placing our trust in God no matter what the circumstances may be. Athletes get a lot thrown at them that may test their faith, but if we can hold our ground on the solid rock and fix our eyes on Him, we can overcome any challenge that crosses our path. The same was true then and the same is true now even post athletic career. I appreciate the words that each athlete shared with us and the lessons that were taken from each one. It takes a lot of courage to share your testimony but if each testimony impacts at least one individual it was worth sharing.
God calls us to share our testimony and to share our experiences because you never know the impact that it could make. Being an athlete is hard and reading through these testimonies and lessons shows that. Even though the hard times of being an athlete can get dark and may seem hard to find a way through, our foundation remains strong in Him. As you read through the book though, you will notice that there are many positives and exciting things about being an athlete as well and the importance of giving Him the glory through the good is just as important.
I just read the first few chapters and was moved. It’s so special to be able to hear from athletes on all different levels on what helps them stay rooted in there faith amongst all the chaos of sports. It’s inspiring to hear so many athletes have the same thoughts and worries as I do and find the same peace in the Lord. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book!
